FRIDAY, AUGUST 4, 2017 THE BAKER COUNTY PRESS — 9 Local & Entertainment Bebe’s word search Lottery jackpots rise Oregon Lottery’s draw game jackpots are rising as fast as the summertime temperatures. It’s the perfect time to ask for the Oregon Lot- tery’s $7 Jackpot Trio when purchasing tickets. With the trio you get all three draw games, Or- egon’s Game Megabucks, Powerball and Mega Millions with multiplier options. Oregon’s Game Mega- bucks has grown to $5.4 million for Wednesday’s drawing. This year, players have won jackpots playing the local draw game four times, each time winning between $4.2 million and $7 million. “In my experience the jackpot normally gets hit when it reaches between $4 million and $7 mil- lion,” said Patrick Johnson, Lottery spokesman. “With the multi-state draw games having such a high jackpot, don’t forget that Oregon’s Game Megabucks is a lo- cal game and I don’t know anyone who would turn down winning more than $5 million.” Also growing this week is the multi-state draw game Powerball, where the jackpot will be at $261 million on Wednesday. More than a dozen Orego- nians have won $50,000 or more so far in 2017, with nearly half of them win- ning $100,000, Johnson said. The last Oregonian to win a $1 million Powerball prize was Steven Dery of Coquille, when he won in July 2016. Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot also continues to rise, reaching $303 million for Tuesday’s drawing. The last Orego- nian to win $1 million on the Mega Millions game was Joemel Panisa from Logsden, who discovered his ticket while cleaning his offi ce during an ice storm last January. While Oregon Lottery offi cials are still waiting for the state’s fi rst Mega Millions jackpot winner, Oregon Mega Millions players have won more than $8.8 million in prizes of more than $10,000 since the game has been offered. Lottery offi cials recom- mend that you always sign the back of your tickets with each Oregon Lottery game you play, to ensure you can claim any prize you may win.
