8 — THE BAKER COUNTY PRESS FRIDAY, JULY 22, 2016 Local Huntington HS&YO begins kids program BY EILEEN DRIVER Eileen@TheBakerCountyPress.com The Huntington Branch of the Baker County Library District in a joint venture with the Hunting- ton Senior & Youth Orga- nization (HS&YO) have begun a summer program for kids two days a week at the Library and sur- rounding City Park, located at 55 E Jefferson Street in Huntington, Oregon. According to Library Manager Brandy Wilson, “The children in this town are very much in need of good activities to keep them engaged and on the right path. We are dedi- cated to helping give them that.” The program, which is on Tuesdays and Wednes- days from 10:30 a.m. to noon, will continue until school is back in session, and includes story time, game or craft time and a sack lunch prepared and delivered by Sandra Vaughn of the HS&YO at 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday, July 19, 15 children came down to participate in the program and more were anticipated to attend on the following day. Jada Jones, one of the participants, said she enjoyed her sack lunch which included a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, box of raisins, orange juice and assorted cookies for dessert.
