PAGE FOUR ROGUE NEWS WED., MAY 8, 1963 4 Rick Pierce, Dean Samuclson, and John Rhodes are three of the top baseball players. "i I PIERCE, SAMUELSON LEAD tLEAJUE IN BATTING By Joe Rayne I was sure surprised," said Dean Samuelson when asked how he felt about in being the third in the league as far as his batting average is concerned. The stocky, 145 pound, 5 foot inch junior is a real asset to Ashland High's baseball team. So far this season he is batting .308 with 6 RBI's. He also does a good job at the short stop position. Another great hitter for Ash land is Rick Pierce who is batting .333 to lead the league. When asked how he felt about being first, he shrugged modestly and stated, "I'm awful lucky."
