Rick Pierce, Dean Samuclson, and John Rhodes are three of
the top baseball players.
"i I PIERCE, SAMUELSON LEAD
tLEAJUE IN BATTING
By Joe Rayne
I was sure surprised," said
Dean Samuelson when asked how
he felt about in being the third
in the league as far as his batting
average is concerned.
The stocky, 145 pound, 5 foot
inch junior is a real asset to
Ashland High's baseball team. So
far this season he is batting .308
with 6 RBI's. He also does a good
job at the short stop position.

Rhodes Gets No-Hitter
"It's pretty great," John Rhodes
commented when asked how he
liked the publicity he was re
ceiving from his "no hitter"
against Klamath Falls, John
hurled the no-hitter to win 1
to 0. Klamath Falls took the
other game 4 to 2.
SENSATIONAL TOM HUFF
BREAKS OWN RECORD
Tom II u f f, Ashland's great
javelin thrower, broke his own
record with a toss of 203 feet in
a track meet with Douglas High
of Portland. Earlier this year his
throw of 199 feet and 6V4 inches
broke the school record. The new
mark is a spectacular feat as
very few prepsters have passed
the 200-feet line.
