Impetus is also accepting proposals from other choreographers for pieces exploring these issues and will be creating additional performances from improvisational exercises. “We have had very insightful proposals from others; many are about relationships and how they affect our own perspectives of ourselves,” Peterman explained. She already has a piece in the works that explores “what it means to stand out in a crowd, feel alienated and come to a place of self-acceptance.” For his part, Walker is developing a per formance in which different bodies move in and out o f stretchy clothing to symbolize the transformative influence o f apparel o f gen der. He added, “It is rare that performances focused on sexuality are inclusive of disabled people from the onset.” Impetus will hold its first meeting for the project Saturday, May 22 at Performance Works Northwest (4625 SE 67th Ave.) from 1 to 4 p.m. All dancers who attend the initial meeting will be guaranteed a spot in one o f the performances. Rehearsals will take place every Saturday from May 22 to July 10.
