(4pm, 2512 NE Broadway, $5, 503-287-4210, joqspdx@yahoo.com) UP Local queer techno-folk darling Lo- . gan Lynn is amping things up. After a brief performance hiatus, the former solo artist has teamed with a new band, The Gentry, and is plugging in to a bigger, badder sound. "Many of you who have seen my live show in the past will be expecting some- thing completely different than you will be getting," Lynn said in a message to fans. "Things have gotten loud and I've moved into the world of electronic rock with full force." Often compared to artists such as Lykke Li, Ladytron and Goldfrapp, Lynn's danceable grooves belie the serious, even emo lyrics beneath. The addition of a backing band gives his music a more puls- ing rhythm that pushes through the ear, rather than wafting past, creating a sound that's more grounded and less ethereal. As those who got a preview of the new Logan Lynn and The Gentry (LL+G) at February's Blow Pony can attest, these boys are ready to rock. Folks who missed the show can watch a reworked version of Lynn's single "Feed Me to the Wolves" on his YouTube channel. Ever generous, the musician has also "leaked" demos from his upcoming album with Y-Tron on his Web site. The tracks are unedited and unmastered but still offer a good taste of what's to come. Fortunately, eager fans need not wait much longer to bob and sway to Lynn's electrically and emotionally-charged beats. LL+G kick off their West Coast summer tour Thursday, May 27 at the Doug Fu, joined by electro-pop duo DoublePlus- Good and electro artist Fleshtone. The guys go on to perform for the homo masses at both Olympia's Capitol Pride on June 12 and Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party at The Cuff on June 27. "The Gentry and I have been hiding since January making things loud and wild, getting ready to take the loud wild- ness on the road," Lynn said. With any luck, the crowds will join in the ruckus raising. Logan Lynn and1he Gentry perform at 9 p.m. May 27 at the Doug Fir, 830 E. Burn- side. Tickets are 15 in advance or at the door. BEAT" » WILLAMETTE VALLEY LGBT CHORUS CONFLUENCE PRESENTS SONGS OF FREEDOM As the sun begins to make a more regular appearance, bodies soak up a welcome dose of vitamin D while the mind drifts off with the rhythmic flow of crashing waves--or passing cars, depending on the locale. But sometimes, the heart needs warming too. That's where Confluence comes in. The Willamette Valley LGBT chorus presents "New Day. Songs of Freedom. With a Beat." Friday,June 4 in a celebration ofliberty that's bound to light a spark under the coldest of souls. Inspired by historic struggles for freedom in the United States and Africa, the program includes powerful songs that find their roots in the pain of slavery and the Civil War years, in the civil rights and peace movements in the U.S. and the struggle for independence in Africa. The message of tragedy and hope carries through to arrangements that mourn those who have died of AIDS while expressing solidarity with those living with HIV. While dloral music may bring to mind pipe organs, swishy graduation-esque gowns and stiff postured singers with awkwardly open mouths, Confluence prefers to follow the beat of a more eclectic drummer, eschewing a "stuffy" aesthetic in favor of bright colors, bold sounds and a healthy dose of humor. The chorus's March show, "Groovin' ," saw them donning period-appropriate tie dye, Afro wigs and leather vests-hardly the stereotypical choir attire. Confluence brings together singers from all corners of the valley, from Eugene to Portland to Newport, to affum the lives of LGBT people and their allies. Under the artistic direction of Portland native Ray Elliott, the chorus rehearses weekly in Salem and is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses. The chorus is open to new members and docs not require an auditior. Confluence will follow gig at Pride chorus,
