As a performer, Klipp exudes a nonthreatening charismatic sex appeal that intrigues audiences about his gender, and simultaneously renders it irrelevant. His. steamy new music video, “Tell Me,” is heating up YouTube and setting historical prec edent by featuring singer Asia Vitale, winner of the elite trans mtxleling competition Catwalk. The video has become the first to costar trans people as each other’s love interest. It’s not the first time Klipp has made history. On “Little Girl,” the first single from his self-released debut EP, Patience, he became the first person to record a duet with his pre- and post-transition voices. “Little Girl” garnered Klipp national attention when it peaked at No. 2 on Sirius OutQ, was honored as the duet of the year by The Windy City Times and was featured on the fourth season of The L Word. Highlighted on a half-dozen ra dio programs including National Public Radio’s This Way Out, he was also a two- time guest on The Tyra Banks Show. In 2007, PlanetOut.com and Gay. com launched Klipp’s first full album, Won't Stop Now, and comedian Mar garet Cho directed and appeared in his music video “Rescue Me,” which spent a month on Click List, Logo’s top 10 video countdown. Not bad for a guy who feared his tran sition from female to male would destroy his voice and obliterate a lifetime of vocal training. “It’s funny because now everyone says, ‘You’ve got a great voice,' ” Klipp says. “[But] I had a pitch in my head and it would just happen...and all of a sudden that muscle memory was just shot.
