She believes all oppressed people—women, people of color, sexual and gender minorities—will never be free or equal under capitalism. “If you’re really interested in creating a militant movement that can win a revolution, you need people who are on the bottom to lead it, not just make the copies and the coffee.” Sardo, a candidate for state representative in 2004, is the office manager for Harry’s Mother, one of the Janus Youth Programs. The Northwest native has been politically involved since coming out in 1987. She helped fight many anti-gay ballot measures and bigotry from neo-Nazis. Sardo married Annalee Purdy, her partner of 12 years, on International Women's Day, March 8, 2004, and they recently registered as domestic partners.
