Just Out attended a strategy session Dec. 7 between Multnomah County employees and leaders of vanous nonprofit organizations who discussed the logistics of Jan. 2s domestic partnership registration. We gleaned these tips: Take the bus. Parking at the Multnomah Building is minimal on a normal day. Spaces will be scarcer on this monumental day. If you plan to download and print the necessary forms to fill out ahead of time and sign them before a notary of your choice to expedite the process, use legal-size paper or you’ll have to get back in line and start all over^gain. The county will have notaries on hand, but it will not have any room in the lobby for people to perform religious ceremonies. Unlike marriage, domestic partnerships do not require solemnization. Be prepared to have your picture taken. A media feeding frenzy is anticipated. For more information download Basic Rights Oregon’s Domestic Partnership Resource Guide at www.basicrights.org. Their negative review was printed in Talk, a Palm Springs publication with distribution throughout Southern California. According to Pile, the column has thousands of readers and is syndicated nationally in queer magazines. At the time of the article’s publication last Celebrate Your Partnership Basic Rights Oregon has organized celebrations in several cities around Oregon for newly registered domestic partners and their family, friends and thousands of supporters.
