Is she grooming? Coifing? Regardless, she has a killer handbag and a gixxl haircut. Fashion is as fashion does! —Sarah Dougher, News Editor Victor/Victoria's Secret Angel WID PRAJUGO Portland Everyone in the office knew 1 was going to choose this one. If you knew me, you would have, too. I have great affection for anything fluffy, pink, shiny or sparkly—in short, the raw materials that make up this beautiful fairy. Now I must say 1 am a bit jealous of her desk top-length vanity. Oh well, 1 guess I will work that into my next contract negotiation with Marty. —Ashley Austin, Advertising Representative eople Category Winner Sunday Afternoon SARAI BLACK Portland Majestic Redwood Love 2004 J. RYLAND Portland I have always been amazed by nature. This image speaks volumes to me. With ail that we have accomplished as a species, nothing we have done compares to Mother Nature. In other words, we are so small. —Larry Lewis, Advertising Director Nicaraguan Shoe Shine Boys WADE FICKLER Portland I’m drawn to transporting, colorful images, particularly those that require the viewer to fill in rhe blanks. I can only imagine how hard these kids must work to make money, but their facial expressions indicate strong spirits. —Jim Radosta, Arts and Culture Editor rowel Tip Money KATRINA COLE Portland "ike wtwwcwg e wtry to the Just Out Amateur Photo Contest was shot by Katrina Cole. She was breathing in the sights and sounds of Holocene during Sparkleheart’s Burly-Q Underground show when she captured “Tip Money,” among many other fabulous shots from that night. “When you have a camera, people tend to give you a little space, so 1 was able to get right up to the stage and capture some terrific images,” Cole says, recalling the performance. Just Out staff members were captivated by the photo’s depth and perspective, its nongendered image and its subtle message about sex and commerce. Though Cole considers herself an amateur, she’s had a lifelong romance with photography, paging through volumes of Time and National Geographic as a kid. "I could get lost in those photographs,” she says. Cole is learning the technical aspects of the art form by studying under Smith Eliot, a Portland fine art photographer and instructor. —Jaymee R.
