Cohen, who com bines original songs and poetry with her eclectic spirituality to connect the crowd with T he Divine. (No, not Divine, The Divine.) This performance focuses on Cohen’s expanding array of spiritual songs, with help from special guests and the audience. Expect elements of worship and prayer from Sufism, Paganism, Unitarian Universalism, Judaism and New Age teachings. Her shows are appropriate for all ages, and the sliding-scale admission is $5-$15. T h e New York Fire Departm ent chaplain died Sept. 11 while giving last rites to victims in the World Trade C enter. During her adventures the adorable A m élie even turns the head o f a butch female admirer. — Jim Radas ta H arry P otter S orcerer ’ s S tone and the T h e film adaptation of the immensely popular J.K . Rowling novel might be full o f classically trained actors and top-notch special effects, but it’s also full of itself. A t 152 minutes, it’s poorly paced, overly complex and lacking in any sense of human emotion. Director Chris Colum bus (Home A lone) clearly was the wrong choice here— where’s Terry G illiam (Brazil) when you need him? -JR <gi<cS><£> life as a H ouse Emotionally repressed cynics: Stay home. Those with anything warmer than ice water in your veins: Take Kleenex. Although the story is familiar, it’s full of intricate, messy relationships acted with grit and flair by a stellar cast. Kevin Kline underplays his role as the dying father of a sexually confused teen boy played with painful realism by Hayden Christensen. — O rian a G reen O c ea n ’ s E leven Director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic) continues his winning streak and com pletes 2 0 0 1 s solid T h ie f Trilogy: T he Score, Heist and this remake o f the 1960 Rat Pack caper. For gay audiences, what could be more appealing than a film uniting George Clooney, Brad Pitt and M att Damon? Also, Elliott Gould plays a fruity con m an, and no Vegas flick would be com plete without a cam eo from the ambiguously gay duo Siegfried & Roy. -JR
