The center is scheduled to open in early fall. “For nearly 30 years Seattle has gone without a center for its LGBT community,” said Darian Shaw, Queen City Community Development board co-chair. “As the only major metropolitan city without a LGBT community center, this moment is long overdue.” Facilities will include offices for nonprofits, public conference rooms and assembly space, an exhibition and reference area, and a reception and referral center.
