nounced June 18 that it has signed a lease
to open a center for Seattle’s lesbian, gay, bisex
ual and trans community.
The group will occupy 2 1/2 floors and more
than 3,700 square feet in the three-story build
ing located at 1115 E. Pike St., according to the
agreement with Anne Michelson Properties.
The center is scheduled to open in early fall.
“For nearly 30 years Seattle has gone without
a center for its LGBT community,” said Darian
Shaw, Queen City Community Development
board co-chair. “As the only major metropolitan
city without a LGBT community center, this
moment is long overdue.”
Facilities will include offices for nonprofits,
public conference rooms and assembly space, an
exhibition and reference area, and a reception
and referral center. Services provided will
