To th e E d ito r : l am truly disappointed with Just Out s poor reporting of one of Portlands biggest queer events (the Pride 2000 parade). All I could find on this event was the collage page [July 7j. W hat a bunch of crap. I thought you were an out paper. 1 thought I could count on you for pic tures and follow up. I think The Oregonian did better coverage. I’m sure glad I didn’t subscribe to this rag. D iane C arver Beaverton P ea c o c k P r o d u c t io n s I n c . Peacock in the Park simply could not be without these dedicated and hardworking individuals! Thank you just seems like too small a word. We would also like to thank all o f this year’s sponsors for their generous support and the staff o f Just O ut for all the wonderful coverage. If you helped in any way with this year’s Pea cock in the Park, you are invited to attend a spe cial “T hank You Party” at 6 p.m. Monday, July 24, at Darcelle X V Show place, 208 N.W. Third Ave. We will be showing the video of this year’s event and will be serving a light dinner. E d ito r : We would like to take a moment to thank the many volunteers that made Peacock in the Park another smashing success. A s you know, Peacock in the Park is produced by an all volunteer board of directors and crew. The weekend starts on Friday afternoon when the sets are moved out of their yearlong storage space at the Embers Avenue. Saturday at noon, volunteers load the sets into the donated rental truck, and Sunday morning at 8 a.m. we rendezvous at the park to build the sets, dressing rooms and concession areas. Once the party starts, the same volunteers who have worked all morning act as security guards, concessionaires or performers in the show. After the show, these dedicated individuals stay to strike the sets, tear down concession and dressing room tents, haul garbage and comb the entire park for cigarette butts and beer bottle caps. Once everything is loaded into the truck, volunteers follow back to the Embers to load the sets back into the attic for storage. After all is said and done, it is usual ly about 10 p.m. That really makes for a long day and a lot of th e Contact info needed To t h e E d it o r : I have intended for some time to write about this matter, and I was prompted to do so by the article about Lebanon on Page 19 o f the latest issue of Just O ut [World News, July 7]. I often wish that information on where to write, call or send e-mail were included in arti cles so that readers could send expressions of concern to television networks, government bodies, businesses, etc. I know that not every article can contain such information, but it would be nice to have it included more often. I like to send thank yous to supportive organiza tions and to let others know that I am unhappy about som ething that they have done. L yle M .
