In the building with the bank of Albina Messrs. Thompson & Vreeland have elegantly fitted offices for their real estate and insurance business. This is a live firm and also a most reliable one. Dr. VV. A. Wise, the well known dentist, and Dr. Curtis Holcomb, the popular physician, are each located in the Albina bank building. rZr; i - - tjCTV"'1 l,n'r RESIDENCE OF W. M. KILLINGS WORTH, ALBINA. Albina has many very fine residences, in fact there is no city of its si:e in America having so many beautiful homes. Of late years it has become known that the high table land forming the peninsula between the two rivers is the most healthful spot on the coast As a consequence land has been in great demand and is growing more valuable each year. As a place of residence the peninsula between Albina and the Columbia, all of which is to be included in the new cky limits, is also one of the most beautiful and sightly locations to be found in Oregon. Many of the wealthy people of the state are securing property there, on which elegant homes are being erected. The streets are all being improved, sidewalked, electric lights put in, city water mains laid all at the expense of the Oregon Real Estate company, who own a large part of the addition. The property is being sought after by the best class of people, who are erecting the most elegant and costly homes to be found in Portland. The above are well known people of Portland and East Portland. Theodore Nicolai, of Portland, will build a residence to cost $20,000, and E. B. McFarland, of the Dalles, one to cost $10,000. Also George B. Hovenden, of Hubbard, Oregon, will build there. In addition to this Mr. Fred Bailey, Thomas J. McNamee, A. R. McMillen, W. H. Meade, W. S. Conser, E. R. Root, of East Portland, and Mrs. John Schade, of Portland, have signified their intention to build fine residences in this addition at no distant day. The office of the company is at No. 3 Morrison street. Our front cover this week shows the new quarters of the City Livery and Carriage company of which H. H. Moulton ts presklent, T. C. Powell vice president, and W. L. Dudley secretary. This building is being built especi ally for this company, by Mayor DeLashmutt, and is lucated on Seventh and Taylor streets. The plans for its errection were drawn by D. D. Neer, the well known architect, who planned especially for the advantageous conduct of the Livery and Carriage company's business. The result is a building that in convenient and economic arrangement, ventilation and sanitary appliances, is not equaled anywhere on the coast. It will serve as splendid headquarters for this popular company which with their new and stylish laudaus, laudau lettes, broughans, surreys, pha-tons and buggies will become more popular still. They send these stylish turnouts to all depots, landings, or to any part of the city at schedule rates and also furnish carriages for balls, operas and weddings. Mr. DeLashmutt's enterprise is deserving of mention as being in keeping with his well recognued spirit o( progress. The building is an orna ment to the city. REMOVAL!
