Mrs. Joey is visiting her sister Mrs. John Harr near Watkins she is accom panied by her daughter. They are well pleased with this country and do not know just how long they will visit here. Miss Maud Harr who is teaching the Palmer creek school was visiting her parents near Watkins Saturday and Sunday. Emma Wendt made a business trip to the Louden ranch last Tuesday. It is reported that a railroad up Ap plegate to the Blue Ledge will soon be started. Jesse Thrasher of Grants Pass, a voung man well known to many of our readers, was found dead in his bed at Ayer’s Spur, near Ashland^ early Tues day morning, having been brutally murdered some time during the night. The victim’s skull had been crushed in with a club or other blunt instru ment and the body was otherwise hor ribly mutilated. Six Greek laborers employed near the scene of the crime have been ar rested and held for examination, but Base Ball there is no direct evidence against them. We are having some nice rain at this writing. Ralph Jennings was in the city last week. John Lyden of Jacksonville took din ner with friends near Buncom recently. Ernest Foreman was up Little Ap plegate on business the other day. Miss Beulah Garrett was visiting friends last week, Bert McKee spent Tuesday night with friends or Little Applegate. Mrs. M. Buck accompanied by her mother Mrs. Parks was visiting Mrs. W. R. Garrett last week. Mrs. Laura Gould of Jacksonville spent severaldays with Mrs. J. Goldsby last week. We are glad to report that A. B. Saltmarsh u, improving,- R. J. Cameron is quite ill we are sorry to say. Watkins Items. Correspondence to The Post. • We are having some very cold weath er at this writing. Orpha and Bessie Lewis spent Sun day with friends near Watkins. Anthony Watkins made a business trip to Jacksonville recently. The dance given at the Louden GREAT GAME At Eagle Point, Sunday, Ten innings were played. The second team defeated Eagle Point Sunday on the latter’s grounds, by the score of 14-11 Ten innings. It was a very interesting, and well played game, despite the rough grounds. Notes of the Game. Young Wilkinson of Central Point, who played behind the bat was all to the good. .Coffman pitched a good game, and well deserved to win. Griffith on first was going right, securing 4 hits out of 5 times at bat. Trix Pearte of Central Point who held down second base, was all to the good. That double play of his, un assisted was a bit of clever fielding. O. Coffman played classy ball on third. Toots Thompson who played right garden, is a coming ball player. He handles the willow like an old leaguer. ‘‘Century” in center knows the game from start to finish, and plays classy ball.
