The goods have not arrived yet. The Ashland Preparatory School would like to get a game of basset ball with our team about November first. The Yreka High School will be able to play us in the near future. Certain pupils and teachers of this school are yelling for a literary society. Just keep on yelling and do some boosting and yell some to the professor and you will get what you want. The pupils of the High School will be organized into a student body .some time soon, for the purpose of promot ing athletics and school enthusiasm and for forwarding the general good of the school, the pupils and the town. The various teams of the school will play clean games. We shall endeavor to treat visiting teams right and show them the best times possible. A little sawmill at Burlington cutting 100,000 feet a day starts up 15 miles from Portland on the Willamette slough. Other manufacturing plants will soon be opened. This town and all its enormous and increasing land values is the directjand indirect product of the United Electric road, which will reach tidewater on the bay of Tillamook ulti mately. The pupils who had been neither ab sent or tardy for the past month re ceived a quarter holiday on Friday. Chester Wendt, Sigurd Norling and Charles Prim stood on the floor for a short period Friday as a punishment for whispering. There is no getting around this professor; we must be good. The Jacksonville High School will play the Central Point High School a game of basket ball at Central Point Oct. 22. Burns, formerely one of the best known liquor salesmen on the coast, died at Crescent City, Saturday, aged 58 years.
