VOL. IL STEVEN JEWELL IN JACKSONVILLE Judge Stephen Jewell of Grants Pass was in the city last Saturday on business. The Judge is an interesting talker, and is well posted on horticul ture. "The Rogue River Valley is adapted iff th® raising of fruit and there is ¿'onsiderable money in the business” »aid Mr. JeWeft, "if the right kind of Milt is raised." The judge has made a study tff fruit and says that “the most profitable? tnrop is winter apples and pears on the flitt land and tokay grapes on the hili sides." Peaches are not a good crop be cause when they begin to ripen they must be marketed at once or they will not stand shipment, although with the improvements contemplated by the S.
