Determined to riso in his chosen profession as nn educator, Ernest Kem per, of Pieicolon, Ind., overtaxed him self mentally and physically. He was ambitious, his mind was always on his work. From early morn until late at night ho continually poured over his books. "Burned tho candlo at both ends." Few persons, even with tho strongest constitutions, can keep up under suoh a strain. In addition to his studies, Mr. Kem per was teaching school some thiee miles from his home. Finally, hi excessive study and the exposure of going to and from school in all kinds of weather undermined his health. Ho was taken to his bed with pneu monia nnd his overworked brain al most collapsed. For several weeks he was seriously ill. Catarrh had taken root in his svstera and liis mind was in a delicate condi tion. He was sent to Colorado where ho spent tiirco months without receiv ing any bench' t. Then a noted special- Ocerttwly. 1st from Clevoluntl treated him without avail, nml then a hospital in Chicnuo was triod, hut all absolutely without benefit. Finally his physician recom mended Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale Peoplo, and from the first box he began to improve. When lie had taken nine boxes ho was completely curotl. Tills famous blood and nerve medicine had accomplished what all his former exponsivo treatment failed to accom plish. Mr. Kemper says his catarrh ins entirely left him: ho is strong again and weighs nine, pounds more than he ever did. He gives the pills tho entire credit. He is starting teach ing again and feels abundantly able to continuo the work. To prove that the above is true in every respect, Mr. Kemper made an affidavit as follows: Subscribed and sworn to before me this the 10th dav of Septembor, 1897. R. P. WATT, Notary Publio. At seasons of the year they migrate in large bodies from one side of tho island to the other, in columns sometimes half a mile wido, and so dense as nlmost to stop a car riage on the road they may be crossing. These columns overcome every obstacle in their direct lino of march, even high mountains. It is supposed that these migrations nro prompted by tho in stinct of propagation, as the crabs ucek tho sea shore, deposit their egys, mil cast off the old shell. These crabs are so common about tho citv of Matanzas that the inhabitants often receive the sobriquet of "oangrojo," They are frequently found iu the houses, and in some cases oven undor the beds. There is a species of conch which makes similar marches through tho country in immense bodies. These are called pirates, fiom a very curious habit they display. This oreaturo, which re sembles a Snail, has tho ability of de taching itself from the shell, which, for somo reason, it temporarily leaves at times; and while its house is thus vacant, another, pass ling, will back its body, tail foremost.
