THE REAL BOY He I tool is now overund the reul boy in making the hest, of his vacation. II is work ing part of the. tinio at some thing that will make him bettor able to eopn with tin labor of tho future. Wliih- everv trowing boy ntds bin shrtro of play nnd pleasure, h needs also his share of work. Under the newer system of education, the bov should have his garden mid should know how and when and what to plant. This in riustrial education should not stop with thu vacation school liiys. it shotiM continue The labor will he worth tin time, and the rent l y will t.ake pride in tho results of bin ox periment.-i in thegarden. There is a difference be t vneii the common liar mid the prfes:doiiHl one. One lies for pleaauro, tho ot her for paiflt HOint'tinies. The American people arc making political hini ory. The new Republican and the new Democrat is entirely different from thoold politician of for rner days, Many old policies that stood aa good law and desirable, rules of govern ment policy have been oast to the eornp heap by the common peoplo. The initiative and referendum, the recall, worn ana' fiuffisgw and the income tux, are among the laws that have become fffeet ive in dif ferent section of thin country and the pnopleare clamoring for more of lluse bo called refomip, In former times wi were taught that whim this gov ernment was formed there were three branches of gov ernment named tho legisla tive, judicial and executive. The senate and house of lep resentativea represented the legislative branch. This branch of two parts wuh so arranged that one house, the re' res6 n tnt i vk should be tdacled by the people direct pv-ry twoyonrs. The other, the fenalors, should be elected one third every two years by the legislatures. This was then explained to he so done becmiw one bouso would net a a cheek on the other. Un der that syNtem a sudden n Minimi movement could not carry the people away and cause unjust and unwise changes to be made in our evHtem of government or in our laws Now we have adopted the election of the U, 8. senators by a direct vote of the people end so nno'herof ouroldcon ftitutionnl lard marks has been shattered to atom and destroyed. Hut vet, considering th le gth of time in which the constitution badbeen in effect hut few changes have been made in onr organic law. The nio-t that has been needed is tho correction of our judicial departments. The mi scarp age of justice, the all iwnnce of too liberal n construction to trust and corporation laws and the al lowing of too much money and ton much power in the bands of a few. ('hanging of times will probably rhnngu these con dition!.
