The lifesaving crew and fishermen are today searching for an overturned boat which has been reported four miles, off the mouth of the Coqnillc river by the captain of the Nan Smith. The captain sent a wireless mes sage here telling of the wreck, but said he could not make out the name. It appeared to be the hull of a barge or gasoline boat. No boat has been reported missing at this port. Ther'j is little doubt among old "suits" hcic that some lives have been lost. It is considered practically certain thai Congressman McKinlay will be ap pointed on tho merchant marine com mittee in addition to the insulnr af fairs committee, which committee ship he will retain. The speaker is understood to he moved to make this appointment because of McKinlayV well known friendliness toward ship subsidy. There will be n bill intro duced at the next session for the en couragement of merchant marine ex tension between the Pacific coast, Asia and South America.
