THE MEDFORIDAILY TRIBUNE, M KDFOltl), OREGON, TUESDAY, JULY 13, 1909. Do You Know Why the Sale of the ORAIN xn, ft ) ))j ' ITS ON LEGS Is Greater than any Range on the Market ? Call and Let us Demonstrate Its Superior Qualities ITS ON LEGS Medford J ardware Go "THREE WEEKS IS SOCIAL STUDY Moral Question Is Uppermost in Play Which Will Be Presented This Evening at Opera House. i Popular fjnoks as a -rule make a very poor material for plays, because they contain so much of the incident that must be, of necessity omitted. The notable exception, however, is Klinor Glyn'a story "Three Weeks," which has. been so widely discussed on both sides of the ocean. Since the original copyright performance in England, in which .Miss Glyn ap peared herself, the play has been re vised and reconstructed to such an extent that it is said now to be :i powerful love tragedy. It will, In presented in its revised form at the Medford on Tuesday with a special cast of players, headed by the dis tinguished actress Miss Meryl Hope, and Harry C. Browne, who will play "The Lady" mid "I'aul" reseetively. Others in the cast will be Miss Lillian lthodes, Miss Caroline Lamar and the Messrs. Frank .1. Kirk, Sydney Price, William (',. Chatter! on, W. T. Hayes. W. J. McConnei:, K. TT. Thomas. Charles Moucrief, William Casey and AJbert Duall. The play will bo'moimt ed with special scenery, the two no table effects being the lawn before the hotel at Lucerne and the Boggin of the Palace of Venice, Where the "Feast of the Roses" occurred.- : Miss Glyri has a great motive ir. her book which was purposely- or otherwise misinterpreted by a host of readers; but, in her-own dramati zation of the story, she has left no room for doubt. ' The moral strength and object lessons are obvious to all. The play begins with a prologue, showing the home of the Queen at Sardalia and introduces the charac ter of her drunken and vicious hus babnd. thus supplying a plausive mo tive for all that I'ollawcd in her life Tbe'sad story of this queen is of par ticular interest to women, who have comprehended and understood her better than men. They have wept with sorrow at her misfortune and sympathized with her m her great love. The Queen had a glorious mo tive for her sin which cannot be at tributed to Marguerite, Sappho, Zaza. Camille or Lady Isabel. And to al-ino.-t ii II her readers her character is superior in every respect and it may be truly said of her that "there is no joy bill bitter tears will come to ca.-.t it like a (allien angel forth." Sena tor Jeff Davis has written a letter i.i the President telling him why ho did not attend a recent dinner at the White House to which he was invited. He explains that it was due to tin? fact that he was compelled to look after his twelve-year-old son, and not to any intentional discourtesy. ' "On the evening of the dinner." lie! writes, "I allowed him to go to Fort Mycr with a little companion to soo the airship. Ho did not return until such a late hour that I became very i much alarmed about him and went to look for him. I did not return until it wus too late to be present in obed ience to your kind invitation." The senator writeswablO. .4gi. . .
