Speaking of the coming meeting of the State Forestry association to be hi hi in I'ortliiuil, l-Yliruary I I, Profes sor Luke of the Agricultural college says: "This meeting is reallv the first public meeting held by Ihe association, though it is more than a year old, or pcthajhi 11 would be better to nay, since it was organized. We have felt for some time that the only way to get this forestry problem before the ieople prop erly is to hold a series of public meet ings at which all those interested in the subject may lake part in the discus sions. "The forest wealth of this state is enormous. The lumber product alone is estimated at $:;,'-''O,iMl),0lll. An item of greater value to the state than this is that of the conservation of the water supply; while the problem of a future supply of timber ami the maintenanci of a great industry cmpluying thou sands of industrious citizens is of in estimable value. -t tlie iiottom or the economic phase of the forestry problem lies the subject of taxation and it is the pur pose of the association to give this sub ject free and fair consideration with the hope that some just and equitabl laws looking to the reforesting of burnt over and cut-over lauds may be secured. "Oilier equally important questions will lie discussed at subsequent meet ings. The association stands for the protection and preservation of our for est and Ihe dissemination of knowl edge pertaining therein ll has 1 ther purpose and will devote its whole ef fort lo the end that Orog nay not suffer from a reckless devastation of its forests us witnessed by Michigan, Wisconsin, .Minnesota ami other of our eastern -dates. "We would like to see this forest crop economically harvested anil still have the forest left intact so far as to occupying laud that is more valuable for the prodiiclioii of timber trees than other crops. We want lo see our wa tershed protected; we want the water flow of onr streams uiaiiilaiiied that the intense agriculture of the future may be iti.urcd a success. Urieflv, we hope 1.1 sir lb,- establishment of 1111 cn)i.'litc I forest policy. Actuated by this opinion, the company has never yet misrepresented as to the character of the soil or the quality of the fruits produced un same, with the result that alt who have bought orchards through this agency so far could sell out, if desirable, nt an advance of loo to ."mi per eeat above the pure hasp price. This is a history of which we are proud, and we shall continue along the same tines in the future. .Men who come into this favored valley looking for a new plan' of abode are entitled to fair treatment. We only ask of them that they will exercise ordinary business sagacity in investigating the resources of the valley before buying. There are three tilings the average investor wants, if he buys country property in this valley. First and foremost, he wants a home wuerc he ami his family can enjoy good health and the fruits of this section. I'snally he wants to get located where he is within easy reach of the leading commercial centers ami close to local markets. And he always wants property which will bring in a good income and is sure to advance in value ns the valley develops. Will he be apt to find this combination in the hands of the street -corner broker or the average "butter-in" who persecutes the horueseeker about the hotel offices! When one rounders that the situation is not urging many men with good holdings to sacri fice their property here, it is up to the horueseeker to apply to the regular dealer for what lie wants. If he wants tlie VERY BEST IN THE WHOLE VALLEY he must apply to the Rogue River Laud Company. Wheu in Med ford, do not fail to call on (he AT THE EXHIBIT BUILDING. Ro&ue River Land Go. A. S.
