On the whole, it is safe to say that the present annual lumber cut of" the TiiiU-d States approximates 40, UDU.DUtl.OOO feet, and that the total mill value of the lumber, lath und shingles each year produced is not less than $700,000,1100. These figures give some idea of how vast is the lumber industry and how great is the demand for its products. Passing of Oak. A glance tit the kinds of lumber pro dueed shows very clearly the passing uf white pine and oak, one the greatest soft wood und the other the greatest hard wood which tlie forest has over grown. Since Ki9 the cut of white pine has fallen off more than 40 per cent, while that of white oak has fallen off more than 30 per cent. Today yel low pine leads all other woods in the amount cut, while Douglas fir nnd this will be a surprise to many comes second. Since mm the cut of Doug km fir has increased 1H0 per cent. Louisiana is 'the foremost yellow pine state, with Texas, Mississippi and Ar kansas following in order. Washing ton produces by far the greatest amount of Douglas fir. A comparison of the lumber-producing states shows that since lsnn there have been many changes in their rel ative rank. Washington, which in isi!t stood sixth, now lends, while Wiscon sin, which eight, years ago led all oth ers, is now third. In the same period Oregon. Louisiana, Mississippi. Idaho land California made great strides as I lumber-producing states, though, on the other hand, the amount, produced in Michigan. Wisconsin. Minnesota, :ieorghi. Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri. I Indiana and Ohio fell off anywhere ! from !'! to ." 1 per cent. Highest-Priced Woods. The highest pried native woods are walnut, hiskorv, and a-di. and the cheap est are lurch ami while fir. Actuated by this opinion, the company lias never yet misrepresented as to the character of the (toil or the quality of the fruits produced on same, with the result that all who have bought orchards through this agency so far could nell out, if desirable, at an advance of 100 to 500 per cent above the purchase price. This is a history of which we are proud, and we shall continue along the same lines in the future. Men who come into this favored valley looking for a new place of abode are entitled to fair treatment. We only ask of them that they will exercise ordinary business sagacity in investigating the resources of the valley before buying. There are three things the average investor wants, if he buys country property in this valley. First and foremost, he wants a home wnere he and his family can enjoy good health and the fruits of this section. Usually he wants to get located where he is within easy reach of the leading commercial centers nnd close to local markets. And he always wants property which will bring in a good income and is sure to advance in value as the valley develops. Will he be apt to find this combination in the hands of the street-corner broker or the average "butter-in" who persecutes the homeseeker about the hotel offices? When one considers that the Kituatinn is not urging many men with good holdings to sacri fice their property here, it is up to the homeseeker to apply to the regular dealer for what he wants. Tf he wants the VERY BEST IN THE WHOLE VALLEY In must apply to the Ifiigne River Land Company, When in Med fnid, do imt fail to call on the AT THE EXHIBIT BUILDING. Rogue River Land (Bo.
