PREHISTORIC MONSTER IS UNEARTHED George Isaacs Writes of Mammoth Dug up onthatwas Over Hun dred Feet in Length. Miss Agues Isaacs lately received the following letter from her brother, (ieo. W. Isaacs of Vancouver. M. C: "1 Went To see the greatest prehis toric wonder of the world lure in Vancouver last fall. The bones were discovered by two Vancouver prospect ors on one of the islands of the (jjucen Charlotte group, up the Hritish ddiim- bia coast from this city. They discov ered the hones and brought them to this city and I will give you a few of the dimensions that 1 remember, .just to give you a slight idea of the immense size of a live animal that once roamed this northern country. Length uf ribs, 14 feet; from one hip hone over the back to the other, Hi feet. It was over four feet between the eyes. lis large tusks were IS feet long and '24 inches in ci renin ference. The small joints of its tail were Hi inches nenns unci tapered down till the last joint was six inches across. The peculiar part, of it, there was no mar row iu its bones. They were in lavers that matched nicely and were controlled by large muscles or cords that, passed through the large lodes for that pur pose. I may say that the hole in the big tusk where the nerve center was, was almost large enough for me to stick my fist in. The estimated weight f this animal is l tons; estimated height. to 40 feet; estimated length. UK! feet. "No scientist, has any Knowledge of this animal and there is nothing in an ient hi-ftorv about him. These pros pectors are going to offer the bones to the highest bidder of auv cilv or gov- rninont. fur a museum. They esti mate it will cost. for steel and work to set the bones up in shape. Now this is no dream, for it is still on ex hibition here.' The mastodon lias for inaiiv vears been the largo -it animal known, but. its dimensions haven't a look in when it comes to size with this last one. PLANS FOR PROSECUTION OF ASSASSIN ORCHARD CAUnVKM,.
