PURELY r Bridies and Booth Suspended. , A diBpatcb from Washington to the Portland Telegram, bearing date of January .9th, gives information of the suspension of the officers of the Roseburg land office. J It is as follows: By direction of the president, Sec retary Hltohoook today suspended Register J, T. BrigdM and Receiver J. H. Booth, of. the Roseburg land office, at the telegraphic request of Mr. Heney. Heney . reported that I Booth and Bridges, by continuing In office, were able to "thwart tbe ends of justice. " He said an investigation of that office showed Its affairs were in bad shape, and said that further Investigation should be bad. The suspension of Bridges and Booth virtually oloses the Roseburg land offloe, except for tbe filing of papers. Special Agent Neubausen, who went to Roseburg yesterday, has been telegraphed to take obarge of tbe office until the investigation' is com pleted and the present officers restor ed or their successors appointed. This morning Secretory Hitchcock took up tbe Roseburg case with the president, and it is by tbe presi dent's order that radical action was taken, as recommended by Henev, Mr. and Mrs. W. F.
