5 Thursday, October 29, 2020 Halloween happenings Watch for the Witch Lefty’s Family Halloween JOSEPH — Wallowa County children looking for a safe way to garner some candy are invited to the annual Watch for the Witch event in downtown Joseph from 4-6 p.m. on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31. Wear a costume and collect treats at downtown businesses displaying a picture of a witch that has been decorated by local students. BAKER CITY — Lefty’s Tap- house, 1934 Broadway St., Baker City, will host a family Halloween night on Saturday, Oct. 31, starting at 4 p.m. Families are welcome to bring their costumed kids for a goodie bag. There will also be specials on root beer fl oats and pizza. Health guidelines will be followed. Baker City trick-or-treat BAKER CITY — The Kiwanis Club of Baker City is partnering with the Sunridge Inn and the Baker County Chamber of Com- merce to put on a trick-or-treat event the afternoon of Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31. Businesses and other groups will set up in the parking lot between the Chamber’s visitors center and the Sunridge Inn, just north of Campbell Street, from 2-5 p.m. Only 250 people will be allowed at one time. Masks are required. Trick-or-treaters will follow a one-way route with separate entry and exit points monitored by volunteers. The people distributing treats will also wear gloves, and they will drop the items into kids’ containers. Haunted tour BAKER CITY — This weekend is your last chance for a tarot card reading and a tour of Churchill Drive-thru trick-or-treat School’s Haunted Studios, 3451 Broadway, St. Baker City. Readings are $5 and last about 10 minutes. All proceeds support Churchill School. Tours start at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, a less scary version is offered between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with the haunted tours beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the tour are $12.50 per person. Time slots are fi lling up — buy tickets on Churchill’s Facebook page and at www.churchillbaker. com (click on “Haunted Studios”). Health guidelines will be fol- lowed. LA GRANDE — The city of La Grande Parks & Recreation De- partment is throwing a Drive-thru Halloween Party Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m. at Riverside Park, on North Spruce Street. The free event will feature a best decorated car contest, carnival toss games (from inside the car), prizes, music, a Jack-o’-lantern contest and, of course, lots of candy. More Union County happenings LA GRANDE, ELGIN — Here are a few other things to do on Saturday. Please participate only if you can do so safely — for yourself and those around you. • Trunk-or-treat: 4-7 p.m., Kehr Chiropractic parking lot, 1802 Fourth St., La Grande. • Trick-or-treat: 5-7 p.m., Next Step Flooring parking lot, Bearco Loop, La Grande. • “It” themed haunted house and children’s maze: 4-9 p.m., 305 N. 17th St., Elgin. Masquerade dinner BAKER CITY — The Geiser Grand, 1996 Main St., Baker City, is hosting a masquerade dinner on Saturday, Oct. 31. Cost is $49 adults, $19 children, and includes a three-course dinner, costume contest and tarot card and palm readings. Advance tickets are re- quired. To make a reservation, call 541-523-1889.
