6 Thursday, October 29, 2020 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon Art WELCOMES BACK LIBRARY PATRONS LA GRANDE — Cook Memorial Library in downtown La Grande is again open to the public, in limited capacity, and welcoming back library patrons is “Dreamscapes,” an art show of La Grande artist Theresa Henderson’s fl uid acrylic paintings. “We are delighted to have these beautiful paintings on display as we welcome patrons back into the building,” the library’s director, Kip Roberson, said in a press release. Henderson’s paintings have been shown at Art Center East and were part of the center’s virtual gallery show called “Embrace the Unknown.” In an interview with Henderson posted on the art center’s gallery page during last summer’s virtual exhibit, the artist said, “My fl uid art deals with the fours Cs: color, composition, contrast and creativ- ity. My work has been infl uenced by the colorful places I’ve experi- enced in my travels. Fluid art is my gateway to creativity, experimenta- tion and the soul.” The type of fl uid acrylic painting Henderson does involves pouring paint onto a canvas and letting it fl ow freely. Techniques and tools are used to shape the patterns within the paintings as desired. La Grande’s Cook Memorial Library, 2006 Fourth St., reopened in mid-October under a new “grab- and-go” model. Browsing is limited to 30 min- utes and computer use is limited to 60 minutes, by appointment & drop-in. Building capacity is capped at 20 patrons. The free annual showing of “The Haunted Hamburger” has been a Vale Halloween tradition as part of the downtown trick-or-treating, presented by the Drexel Founda- tion since 2010. Over the years the foundation has added other scary Crash Course fi lms to the event. Due to COVID-19 and health safety guidelines, this year the Drexel Foundation is offering the fi lms virtually. Other shorts that are scary, involve magic or aliens will also be available for viewing online, free to all. Scream on the Screen features past Crash Course fi lms, an event in which fi lms are created in two hours. Also included are the latest “scariest” entries in the Drexel Foundation’s an- nual fi lm festival. All fi lms are family appro- priate, rated G to PG.
