Wallowa rallied from a 14-point defi cit in the third quarter to pull even at 28-28 on two Lute Rams- den touchdown passes — one of 80 yards to Tristin Bales and another of 30 to Ryder Goller. A Lute to Zeb Ramsden touchdown in the fourth kept the Cougars within 42-40, but Crane scored the fi nal two touchdowns to escape with the win. Wallowa racked up 526 yards — including 345 passing from Lute Ramsden — as the teams combined for 998 yards of of- fense. Crane had 391 yards on the ground. Zeb Ramsden had 138 yards rushing and 131 receiving and ac- counted for four touchdowns. Lute Ramsden threw four TD passes — two to Zeb, one to Goller and one to Bales. The Cougars (1-6 overall, 1-4 SD3-E) wrap up the season Friday when they host Cove. TIGERS KEEP ROLLING The La Grande Tigers won their fi nal regular-season road game in touchdown pass, and the Joseph Eagles posted their most lopsided win since moving to 6-man football, running roughshod over Mitchell/ Spray/Wheeler at home Friday, 93-7. Littlepage also had a kickoff re- turn for a touchdown and returned two interceptions for scores in the blowout win The Eagles rushed for 279 yards and nine touchdowns. Juston Rodg- ers led the team with 75 yards and a score. Trace Collier was 6-for-8 passing for 149 yards and two scores, with 94 of those yards going to Littlepage. The Eagles (5-0 overall) face Prairie City/Burnt River Saturday at the 6-man classic at Sherman County High School. La Grande (7-0 overall) hosts Baker Saturday and can lock up the Greater Oregon League title EAGLES ANNIHILATE MITCHELL/ SPRAY/WHEELER Guylen Snyder rushed for 74 yards and four touchdowns, Carson Littlepage added 64 yards rushing and two scores and also caught a Tristan Simpson accounted for 300 yards and six touchdowns in his fi rst game back from an injury, and the Elgin Huskies shook off their fi rst loss with a 50-20 home win over Pine Eagle Friday in their regular season home fi nale. Simpson rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns, and was also 6-for-9 passing for 143 yards and three scores. All three of his touchdown passes went to Jordon Palmer, who accounted for 104 yards receiving. Wyatt Hallgarth added 51 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Andres Schmittle rushed for 61 yards. Elgin outgained Pine Eagle 442-212. The Huskies (5-1 overall, 4-1 Special District 3-East) travel to Crane Friday. The winner earns second and will face Union in the Special District 3 playoffs Nov. 1, while the loser gets third and a matchup with Dufur. BADGERS RUN PAST COVE The Powder Valley Badgers went on the road and secured a 54-0 victory over the Cove Leopards in Special District 3-East action Friday. Stats were not available. The Badgers (4-3 overall, 3-3 SD3-E) face Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii in their regular-season fi nale at EOU Thursday, while the Leopards (0-6, 0-5) travel to Wallowa Friday to fi nish their season. PANTHERS DROP FINALE The Imbler Panthers fi nished the regular season on the road with a loss to Ione/Arlington, 41-24, Friday night. Stats were not available. The Panthers fi nish with a record of 1-6 overall, and 0-5 in Special District 3-West. Outlaws split home matches with Grant Union, Pilot Rock Observer staff The Enterprise Outlaws split a three-way match at home on Saturday, falling in straight sets to Grant Union, 27-25, 25-22, 25-19, then sweeping Pilot Rock, 25-8, 25-16, 25-20. Ashlyn Gray had 10 kills in the loss to Grant Union. Rilyn Kirkland added seven assists, Jada Gray had three blocks and Claire Farwell had 22 digs. In the win against Pilot Rock, Jada Gray had four kills, Carsyn Miller added eight assists and Tishrei Movich-Fields had three blocks. “We played well and made few errors,” head coach Lisa Farwell said of the win over Pilot Rock. “We also man- aged to get some younger players some playing time in the match, and they did great.” The Outlaws (9-14 overall, 2-9 Blue Mountain Confer- ence) wrap up the season Tuesday when they host Weston-McEwen. EAGLES SWEEP FINAL TWO OPPONENTS The Joseph Eagles fi nished the regular season with two wins in Old Oregon League action Saturday to secure a bye in the OOL dis- trict tournament, sweeping Nixyaawii 25-15, 25-9, 25-16, and Griswold, 25-11, 25-15, 25-13. Sabrina Albee led the way in both matches with 11 kills, three blocks and six as- sists against Nixyaawii and six kills, three blocks and fi ve aces against Griswold. Madelyn Nelson added six assists against Nixyaawii, and Camille Crenshaw had while Union (19-3) hosts Pilot Rock Tuesday with a chance to fi nish undefeated in Blue Mountain Confer- ence play. Friday LEOPARDS FALL IN THREE TO BADGERS The Cove Leopards fell in straight sets to Powder Valley at home Friday night, 25-20, 25-15, 25-16. Austin Kendall and Kierra Moore each had four kills for the Leopards. Mykiah Over- ton passed at a 94% rate and Raegan Duby was at 85%. The Leopards (13-8 over- all, 6-5 OOL) face Wallowa Saturday in an elimination match in the Old Oregon League district tournament at La Grande High School. BADGERS FINISH WITH TWO MORE WINS Powder Valley fi nished the season with its 28th and 29th wins, sweeping Nixy- aawii to wrap up Old Oregon League play at a perfect 11-0 Saturday, 25-6, 25-9, 25-12, then edging Union in a nonleague match in fi ve sets, 25-27, 25-18, 25-18, 18-25, 15-8. “It was amazing volleyball played by both teams,” Bad- gers’ head coach Marji Lind said of the match against Union. “The energy in the gym was electrifying.” The Badgers (29-1 overall) will face either Wallowa or Cove in the OOL semifi nals Saturday at La Grande High School, Tiger soccer splits at Mac-Hi Observer staff Audrey Garlitz, coming off a seven-goal performance earlier in the week against Nyssa, scored four more goals, and Lauran Rinker scored twice and added two assists as the La Grande Tigers clinched a share of the Greater Oregon League title for the ninth year in a row with a 6-1 road win over the McLoughlin Pioneers Friday. “It was a solid, all around performance,” La Grande head coach Sam Brown said. La Grande ran in winning streak in GOL action to 17 matches in a row with the win. The Tigers have outscored their GOL oppo- nents this season, 30-1. Mac-Hi did become the fi rst league op- ponent to score on La Grande since Baker in the league opener last fall, ending a streak of nine straight GOL shutouts. Alexyss Cham- berlain, though, did record three saves. La Grande (10-2 overall, 5-0 GOL) fi nishes league play Saturday at Ontario, and can lock up the league title outright with a victory. TIGER BOYS FALL TO PIONEERS 1-0 The La Grande Tigers saw the roles reversed. Just three weeks after earning a 1-0 home win against the McLoughlin Pioneers, Mac-Hi returned the favor with its own 1-0 home victory in the rematch Friday in Greater Oregon League action at Milton- Freewater. “It was an awesome game,” La Grande head coach Sid Rangel said. “We had tough competition and we saw a different Mac-Hi this time around....We had our chances but we just didn’t fi nish on the attacking third of the pitch.” The loss, which was the third in a row for the Tigers, ended their hopes of a GOL title. La Grande, though, can still fi nish second in the league with a win at Ontario in its season fi nale and a loss by Mac-Hi to Baker. A tie and a Mac-Hi loss would put the teams in a tie for second. The Tigers (7-4 overall, 2-3 GOL) travel to Ontario to fi nish the regular season Saturday. The Elgin Huskies fi nished the regular season with a home sweep of Pine Eagle on Friday, winning 25-17, 25-22, 26-24. Tymra Anderson led Elgin with nine kills, Kaelin Evans added eight digs, Jayden Palmer had 16 assists and Erika Adams tallied three blocks. The Huskies (10-12 over- all, 5-7 Old Oregon League) face Imbler Saturday in an elimination match in the Old Oregon League district tournament at La Grande High School. COUGARS TOP CRANE IN FOUR The Wallowa Cougars wrapped up the regular sea- son with a four-set home win over the Crane Mustangs Friday, 25-23, 22-25 25-16, 25-19.
