Wilr di inand now, arid ,t satisly the critical members of his own Congress party who, dur ing two days of secret debate demanded action amounting to war, or will it satisfy the Kan sanKh right-winners who shout "Nehru, shake off your softness and drive out the Chinese invad ers"? The inescapable fact is that both China and India practiced the same tactics of passive resis tance against the European itn .".riulisi.s to drive them out of their territories. It worked. Now a new, tou-'h, modern "We are not receiving any mil itary aid from the United Slates.' Nehru told me in a tone that meant he didn't want any. "We are buying some. Our greatest need is help to put across our five-year plan." However, will this satisfy Neh ru s critics in Parliament who use force again.it its onetime partner in passive resistance. This bitterness between the two coun tries with the world's greatest populations 600.000,000 Chinese and 400X00.000 Indians, may bring Kisenhower and Nehru to gether despite their diametric ally different personalities.
