Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lundy of Nampa arrived in La Grande Tuesday to- make their home here. Their family of two sons and one daughter will arrive later. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Houston and baby, Barbara Ann, left last night for Ohio after spending two days at the home of his mother, Mrs. J. R. Dickerson, 1801 X ave nue. The Houston's came from Seaside. The first regular meeting of Ackerman Parent-Teacher asso ciation will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the kindergar ten room. The time will be de voted to introduction and the social hour. Thyra Jean and Charles Cur rey, Salem, are visiting at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Cuney. Miss Currey is a graduate of La Grande high school, class of '41, and is now a senior at Willamette university where she will serve this year as first vice president of the student body. She is a charter member of Beta Chi chap ter of Alpha Chi Omega. Charles Currey has just completed a sea son at Silvercreek YMCA camp where he served as junior coun selor. , i ... ..., . Annual Picnic of Former Students At Langdon Lake Annual picnic of the former students and alumni of Eastern Oregon State Normal school at Weston will be held Sunday at Langdon lake, with a politick dinner at 12:30 p. m. and a bus iness meeting and program fol lowing. Mrs. Isis Adler of La Grande is chairman,, and with C(aude Price, vice president, and Mrs. Clarissa Price, secretary, of Wes ton, will be present and have ex tended invitations to members of the group. The normal school was oper ated for several years at Weston before the local school was built. Service Guild to Sponsor Father Son Banquet Wesleyan Service guild met yesterday and planned to spon sor father-son banquet in Oct ober. Committees were appoint ed. The program for the meeting was conducted by Mrs. W. A. Elam. The lesson, "Health Around the World" was present ed in the form of a playlet. The business meeting was con ducted with Miss Eva Daugherty. Eight members were present and refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Lloyd Gray. RebekahsPIan to Celebrate 94th " Lodge Birthday The 94th anniversary of the or ganization of Rebekahs will be celebrated by the lodge here at its next meeting, it was announc ed today. There -will be a special program and refreshments. At the meeting last night, Mrs. Bonnie Blystone. Mrs. Alma Car roll and Mrs. Thelma Shelton were honored for their birthdays. Mrs. Lou Robertson, Mrs. Myrtle Loock, Mrs. Elva Pierson, Mrs. Laura Rhodes and Mrs. Cordelia Davis received bouquets of fall flowers as contest winners. In preparation for the conven tion at Summerville Sept. 25, the chapter last night practiced drap ing the charter and seating the officers, the part of the program of which they will be in charge at the convention. Anne Pierce Wins Silver Golf Trophy Mrs. Anne Pierce won' the sil ver trophy in the nine-hole golf tournament held yesterday when the women's division of the coun try club met at the club house for their Wednesday luncheon and afternoon activities. Mrs-. Fred Spaeth was winner of yesterday's flag tournament, and last week's golf winners were Mrs. Mabel Graham and Mrs. Wil.iam Siegrist. Mrs. Frank Ralstor was win ner uf cards yesterday. The club is planning to build an outdoor barbecue pit hear the club house. On Oct. 27 the women of. the club will have a rummage sale, the place to be announced later. OES Chapter Here Opens Fall Meetings Hope 'chapter No. 13, Order of the Eastern Star opened its fall season In the Masonic temple last night with Mildred Winters, worthy matron and L. L. Mfc Bride, worthy patron pro-tem, presiding. Feai'ure of the everVng was installation of Louie Morgan and Pauline Ainsworth, who h a V e been appointed to fill the offices of Adah and Martha for the rest of the year. InsHdHing matron was Helen Richardson, with Al fred Cook installing patron and Ruth Dahlstrom, installing mar shal. Newly installed officers were presented corsages by the worthy matron. Other pro-tem officers besides Mr. MeBride were S. B. Moran, Tom Salmon and Florence-Jasper. The, worthy matron reported that it , was the birthday of Ella Russell and while the organist, Estelle Garrison played "Happy Birthday," presented Mrs. Rus ssll with a corsage. She also announced Lillian B. Richardson has been appointed to the office of grand chaplain of the grand chapter of Oregon and will be installed in October. It was also announced George Hospital Notes T. Cochran has been requested to present the grand matron's jewel at the grand chapter. Nellie M. Day, worthy matron, and Clyde Day, a past patron of Lynds chapter No. 1, of Salt Lake City, were introduced and ad-1 dressed the chapter. Myrtle , Broughton, treasurer of Hope' chapter, told of her trip east dur ing the summer. Pearl Harrison, I member of the camp and hospital committee for Union county from Hope chapter, reported on the world of the committee during the summer. Eva German, mother adviser of the Assembly or Rain bow for Girls, announced they will hold installation of the new ly elected and appointed officers Sept. 24 and members of Hope chapter were extended an Invita tion to attend.
