Millerini? of 1904 AdiiniH avenue, Lu Grande, who was stationed at Ven tura, Calif., before being as signed to overseas duty. He is pilot of a carrier based tor pedo bomber plane. He was born in La Grande November 4, 1922, attended p u I) I i c school in Lit Grande and was graduated from La Grande high school, and at tended Eastern Oregon col lege, lie enlisted in the Navy V-!i aviation program in June, 1045, reporting for active training in March 194.1, He was commissioned an ensign on .September 27, 1941. Ensign Millering's sister, Mrs. LaVeda Zecha, also re sides in Im Grande. This lime it is 29-year-old Kenneth Burkhardi, slender six-foot, one-inch right hander from the Columbus Red Birds, who has come to the rescue at a time when the staff was riddled aid reeling. Burkhardt, who won 15 games at Columbus last year, got his chance when Max Lanier went into the service. Promoted to starling duty, he has. won sev:n games and lost three for the best record of any hurler on the staff.
