Add one chopped fresh tomuto, and cook another minute. Add four cups water, half a bay leaf, one cut-up celery stalk and the contents of one 1 pound 1-ounce can of bakod beans. Salt to taste, and add a quarter of a teaspoon popper-corns. Cover and simmer gently for an hour. Press through a sieve and servo with croutons. This Berves four. Kidney Beam with Fresh To matoes: Lay the contents of one 1014-ounce can of kidney beans and four ripe sliced tomatoes al ternately in layers in buttered baking dish, seasoning each layer of tomatoes with salt and pepper. Mr. Courtney and son, Donald, have three bands of sheep out this year, James Morton, of Portland, arrived this week and will stay until his wheat harvest Is over. He has one of the outstanding crops In Wallowa county and la In the hill country knWn as School Flat. This field of wheat has been estimated to thrash 35 bushels to tho acre. Mr. Morton has made many Improvements since his arrival. Hook has again recover ed from a long illness of pneumonia. Sho has been ill for the past year.
