Mrs. Avis Perrls. the new president, with an able corps of assistants, placed the great quantities of food on the tables arranged In the form of a hollow square and supper was ser ved at 7:00 o'clock. Games, swim ming and Informal conversation fol lowed for a few hours. Former mem bers and guests present from a dis tance Included Miss Either Ryan, of Portland. Mrs. Bertha Berber Vonder Ahe, of Brentwood. Cal.. Mrs. Helen Denham Mays, of Bend, Ore., Mrs. Albert LumUtrom. of Alaska, and Mrs. C. A. Speer, of Washington, Iowa. Women's Group Meets j,n Valley Members of the Women'! Foreign Missionary society of the First Meth odist church drove to the country home of Mrs. 8. T. Bailie for their July meeting which came on Wed nesday afternoon. Eighteen women of the church were present, the host esses being Mrs. Bailie, and Mrs. Lee Hanford. Mra. W. M. Pterson pre sented the devotion a Is, using lor her topic "The Ufe That Was Light." Mrs. B. S. HJckox discussing the les son from the subject "Who is the candidate?' gave some of the require ments for one who would be a foreign missionary. ' The standards for such ft worker are very high, she pointed out, giving in detail the examinations which are necessary before one ; Is accepted to do this kind of service. The hostesses served at the conclu sion of the lesson. The July meeting will be on the 11th with Mrs. Gerald Pierian at Perry. Parkdale Club Assembles At Park - The June and July meetings of the Parkdale club are being held In River side Park n which general neighbor hood this group of women reside. Twelve members spent Wednesday af ternoon together and there were also present four visitors. The program consisted of a reading "Be a Friend." by Miss Evelyn Carbine and each one present nhso gave a short poem. The lunch of tho afternoon was served pot luck. The club will meet next time at the sain place on July 11. Auxiliary P.lans To Give Shower There were 18 members present for the-meeting of the Eagles auilUary Thursday evening at their hall when plans were made for a miscellaneous shower to be given at the hall Wed nesday afternoon. June 27 at 3:00 o'olock. The recipients will be Mr. and Mrs. Erna Bush, who recently lost all their possessions by fire. The committee In charge of the affair Is Mrs. Seward, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Breshears. Mrs. Sarah Bailey, recently elected to the office of trustee was Installed. Announcement was made that Mr. and Mrs. Prank Seward, Mrs. Winnlfred Cam. Mr. and Mrs. Moffltt and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Walker were at present In Marshfleld attending the state meeting. A - special meeting Is being called for Thursday evenlug. June 28 for all officers and members of the drill team while the next regular meeting will be on July 5. The 20 members who were present completed seven dresses and seven pairs of shorts, al so two comforters. This Is the last work meeting for the year, but a pic nic Is being planned for Thursday, July 12. Sunday School Picnic Tomorrow The annual Presbyterian Sunday Echol picnic will be the big event for Riverside Park tomorrow. With the games and other outdoor events to begin around 2:00 o'clock, those who have no means of conveyance are asked to meet at the church promptly at 2:00. Each one Is asked to bring a basket lunch which will be eaten at 6:00 o'clock. For dessert the school will furnish the Ice cream. Playground Hike Saturday Morning The first of the playground hikes will be held Saturday morning. Children who want to go on the hike are asked to be at the High school stadium by 10:00 tomorrow morning. The hike will be short, and those who go will return by noon. All children are invited to go. This suggestion was given at a ses sion of Anglo-American technical experts in which Oreat Britain out lined her desire in a statement of her maximum position In naval arma ments. The British suggestions were so de tailed that the Americans merely re ceived them for transmission to Washington, tl was understood that at the bilateral discussions prelim inary to next year's naval conference Oreat Britain covered the entire range of lis plans, including the admiralty's desires in the way of numbers and size of vessels, and the power of guns. At the same time. It was reported in official quarters. Great Britain indicated a desire for a general limit ation of navies on a co-operative basis by all powers.
