Mrs. Ada dredr and Mrs, Lois Fln loy went to Preewntcr Friday nfter noon, called by the sudden death of two-year-old Tommy Greer, a grand son of the former and a npphew of the latter. The lad submitted to an operation yesterday and passed away during the ordeal. Transferred Mr. and Mrs. W. D. McDonald, who have been living In Pendleton the last few months, following Mr Mc Donald's transfer to that city, are now residents of La Grande again, . Mr. McDonald having been returned here. They are residing at 1706 Wal nut street. Fromi California Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, 1005 13th street, have as their guests, their son and their daughter, Mrs. Donna Nichols and little granddaughter, of Berkeley, Cal. Mr. Smith expects to leave next week, going by way of Portland, visiting friends en route. Mrs. Nichols and daughter will spend the summer here due to a recent Ill ness of Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Slegrlst and their son, who ac companied him to the metropolis, re mained there and will visit frlcndB . for several weeks. Their wed ding was an event of last Sunday at Baker. Mr. Hayes Is employed by the Safeway Stores here. From Idaho A. C. Thompson was a business visitor in La Grande yesterday from his home at Godding. Idaho. To open Office U. S. Representative Waltor M. Pierce, who returned today from Washington. D. C, will open his of fice tomorrow morning in the federal building. He will occupy the rooms which wore formerly used by the navy recruiting officer on the second floor. Itesume Trip Mrs. Zula Webb, son Lawrenco and granddaughter, Betty Jean Berry, of Milford, Utah, who have been visit ing at the home of O. C. F. Floyd on east Adams avenue, have gone to the western part of the stato to visit with relatives and friends. They plan to return to La arando for tho rail road convention next month. Mr. Webb was an employee of the South ern Paciric railroad out of Milford and was killed In an accident a year ago last October, RAILROAD LOADING SHOWS INCREASE WASHINGTON, June 22 (A1) The American Railway association an nounced today that loadings of rev enue freight for the week ended June 16 wcro 617,640 cara, an increaso of 2.084 above tho preceding week, 24, 800 above the corresponding week In 1933 and 00.251 above 1032. Miscellaneous freight loaded totaled 247,402 cars, an Increaso of 6,223 abovo the procedlng week, 15,725 above 1033 and 38,094 above 1032. Total loadings for the year to date were 14.133.067 cars, ngalnst 12,002, 043 last year and 13,120,546 In 1032 All districts except tho southern and southwestern reported Increases com pared with the corresponding week In 1033 and all except the southwest ern reported Increases over 1032. EAGLES MEET ON THURSDAY Arthur Keyes was obligated, at a meeting of tho Eagles lodge last eve ning, but very little other business of Importance was transacted because of the absence of several members who are attending the state convention at Marshfleld. An Interesting meeting Is antici pated for next Thursday evening when reports of tho delegates to the convention will be heard, and a large attendance Is anticipated at that time. Gray and daughter. Eunice, havo returned to their home on east Adams avenue after an auto trip through Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. At La Junta, Colo., they visited with a sister of Mrs. Gray, and from there drove; to Ship rock, N. M where Mr. Gray has been employed in the Indian service on the Navajo Indian reservation. They report a very enjoyable trip but glad to be back to the Grande Rondo valley after encountering some ex treme heat on their trip. To Salem Hector Wlcklander left this morn ing for Salem where he has accepted a position for tho summer at a re sort near there. Visit Friends Mrs, Frank W. Smith, accompanied by her sister, stopped In La Grando yesterday for a short visit with friends.
