A great deal of Interest has been shown In tlio University of Oregon summer aesslonr in Eugene and Port' land, which will open on June 18 for the six weeks term. A number of fea tured courses will be offered, and aev- cral outstanding-educators from other Institutions have been added to the regular staff of the university, it is announced by Alfred Powers, director of summer session. In the Portland session, courses in education will be fjlven by Dr. Jay C. Knode of the University of New Mex ico and regular members of the uni versity faculty. Dr. Merle Curtl, of Smith College will offer courses In American history and Professor Ber nard Hlnshaw, of Illinois Wesleyan university, will tconh classes In draw ing and'palntlng. The work In sociol ogy will be under the direction of Dr. Carroll D. Clark, head of the depart ment of sociology at the University of Kansas. Courses will also be avail able In the following' departments: anthropology, bacteriology, botany, chemistry, economics, English, French, German, health education, Journalism, music, philosophy, phy sical education, physiology, political science, psychology and public speak ing.
