"AIR TRUST" IN CONTROL, MARTIN SAYS (Continued From Page One the aluminum concern, Martin .asserting he made the first flight over London - and that he built the first bomber ever contracted for by the government, told the commit tee that the "Ohio gang under Colonel (E. A.) Deeds have complete control" of aviation. Asked how the "air trust exercises control," Martin continued: "Every contract is let secretly, col iusiveiy and tn violation of the law. They go into a secret meeting and agree who is to get the job." "Who goes into the secret meet ing?" a member asked. "The Curtiss company agents. (Brigadier General (H. Conger) Pratt, and the army procurement of ficers at Dayton, for instance," he answered. The "air trust," he argued, has "put Its own men into key positions and controls the contracts of the army and navy. "There is not a single man in the army or navy who dares to oppose the control exercised by the air trust, "The departments today are honey combed with agents and employes of this trust,v Today, something like 24 or 25 cents out of every dollar spent for that purpose goes into an airplane. The rest is stolen." "By whom?" asked Representative Montet D.f La.), Martin named the Curtiss-Wright, Pratt-Whitney, General Aviation and Boeing companies. rr- n The Eastern Reveals Profits in Air Stock That he made a profit of J12, OOtMitfG from an original air stock Investment ol 94S7.1I9 was admitted by WMItam Boeing when, as shown here, he testified before the Senate committee in vestigating ocean and air mail controls.
