Mrs. Dcbbs Is the wife of ithe president- cr Pacific university at Forest Gtcvo and she has combined long and energetic research -with a com petency in writing that makes this book .worthwhile contribution to C.-cgon history. Frees, president of the La Grande City council, was chair man of an interesting 'discussion on' the penal system. Mrs. Paul "Cook,, of Ackerman P. T. A., spoke on pub licity; Mrs. Beeson, on hospitality; Mrs. Roscoe Neal, Central P. T. .A., on publicity; Mrs. David Melt'rum, Riverla, programs; Mrs.'- Lowell Wil liamson, Ackerman, finance; Mrs. H. J. Leonard, Central, membership. . Mrs. Siafer called on the local groups for their alms for tho coming year. Arrangements wore made for La Grande to entertain the county in May, after which Miss Dorothy Smutz pronounced the benediction. -. Burnett and others. ' The program Included community singing led by Paul Knautz, a hum orous rending by Mrs. R. L. Skeen; a dialogue by Marian Boylcs and Jack McClay; a skit by Louise Leigh ton, Georgo Moats, Lenn Plerson and Jean Williams; and a talk on church af fairs by Rev. W. H. Hertzog. Dinner was served at 0:30 o'clock at large tables decorated! in autumn flowers and4eaves.
