FREDDIE MILLER DEFENDS TITLE By tirdiik & Gorrie (Aiwoclateci Press Sports Writer) SEATTLE, July 12 (JP) That part of r.he world's featherweight' cham pionship recognized by the National Boxing association remained today in the possession of Freddie Miller but tho Cincinnati southpaw had to twice knock out. Able Israel, Seattle 'Jowlsh flash, to keep the crown in a scheduled 15-round .bottle here last night. Israel's title! venture ended for sure in a coat of reslh on a new canvas In the fourth round when he was battered down for the third time by. a crushing left. Tho closest the Seattle youngster came io the N, B. A. championship was his claim to a foul in the third when lie was flattened with a left uppercut to the body. He writhed and rolled pp. the canvas while inany of the approximately 7,000 fans yelled "foul," but Referee Tommy McCarthy ruled otherwise and ordered Israel to continue after a six minute rest. . All doubt of a low blow was re moved after an examination by Dr. J. S. Thomas, official boxing .physician, when he said he "found no evidence of a foul." i i Sitka, original capital of Alaska, now has a population, less than 1100 but is the seventh largest city in the territory which has an area of 690,000 square miles. - THIS CURIOUS WORLD ORIGINAL THERE WERE ' NO POISONOUS SNAKES & (Sr'k THE "POISON' gland isnurA MODiriCATKM i OF THE NOpVlAL in OLD MOON IN THE- ngu moons ARMS."
