Sullivan, of La Grande, has returned, from Portland where she visited her brother, James L. Hull. Mr, Hall formerly resided at Pendleton and was for many years a stockman there. Mrs. Sullivan al60 Is a former resident of Pendleton. To Wallowa Luke . Roy B. Curry and Cecil Myrlck were among those who spent the Fourth of July at Wallowa Lake. On Coast Trip Mrs. BaTbara Cochran left Monday afternoon for Portland, Seattle and Victoria, B. C. She plans to take the boat at Victoria and then go to San .Francisco en route to Stanford university for a visit. Mrs. Cochran Is the daughter-in-law of Mr. and R3rs, George T. Cochran and has many friends In La Grande. To Visit Aunt Miss Marian Webb left Wednesday for Baker to spend the weekend visit-, ing her aunt, Mrs. H. D. McDonald. Niihul Operation G. W. Vernon, of La Grande, under went a nasal operation this morning at the Bouvy hospital. Keturu to Home Mrs. August cummlngs and baby daughter left the Granda Rondo hos pital today and returned to their home. The baby was born at the hospltai on July 3. Scott and daughter, Miss Morels, are In La Grande for a two weeks visit with Mrs. Scott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ebell. They make their home at Shelton, Wash. Mrs. Scott was formerly Miss Edith Ebell. DR. LEE BOUVY RETURNS HOME or; Lee B. Bouvy, eyo, ear. nose and throat specialist, returned yes terday from San Francisco and Los Angeles where ho spent a week at tending medical meetings and clinics. Ho returned via Salt Lake City. ELKS TO MEET THIS EVENING The Elks will hold the July meet ing this evening at 8 o'clock at the Elks temple, with Exalted Ruler B. E Williamson presiding. Guest of Mother Mrs. Douglas Klein; of Salem, is spending the week in La Grande as Jed Alien, former assistant man- agor of Montgomery Ward and com j pany of La Grande, left this morning for Walla Walla where he will occupy the same position in the company store there. Wednesday from Portland where they spent the weekend visit ing relatives. They were accompanied by Mrs. George Mclntyre, Miss Janet Mclityrc, her1 daughter, who haq vis. ittd in Portland since February, and Miss Jean Devine. Miss Devlne also spent the weekend in Portland. Teams In the 'Union -Wallowa counv ty baseball league, Idle on the Fourth of July, are making preparations this week for resumption of operations on new fronts next Sunday. The Sunday schedule has not been announced but It is expected that all six teams will see action. WOODSHED FIRE EXTINGUISHED SWIM CLASSES ARE POSTPONED Becauso of the death of Mr. Boerk gren, proprietor of the Cove swim ming pool, no mbre Red Cross swim ming classes will be held there this week. Cherry received an injury to his hand recently when the cowl ol his car fell on It. X-ray pictures were taken at the Grande Ronre hos pital where it was found that the injury was not serious. . Tho fire department waa called to j 1418 Y avonue at 4:15 o'clock yt-j torday afternoon to extinguish a flrej in a woodshed at tho Charles Sam uelson home. About $16 damage was done, It is reported. The flro Is believed to liave started from burning trash. Thirty-five gal lons of chemicals were used to ex tinguish the blaze.
