WeanesJay, Kovemfer 16, 1932 Weather Causes Two-Cent Gain In Egg Prices PORTLAND, Nov. 16 W) Market for eggs was today governed entirety by weather conditions. Trade In egg j was a weather affair generally and sharply higher price 2o dozen all around for the day, suggests a radl cal change In temperatures In the bigger consuming sections. Freezing weather In the midwest la the cause of a great decreooe In offerings from that section and this has resulted In a further sharp upward shift of east ern values. The advance of 2c dozen named by E. J. Dixon, general manager of the Pacific co-ops, was In line with con ditions ruling elsewhere. The demand for fresh eggs Is gaining and produc tion decreasing generally. The new price of extras here Is 20c dozen. which Is being generally maintained for fresh stock although some sellers are quoting a fraction leas on eggs said to be a trifle undergrade. Market for butter continues to re flect liberal activity and additional Btrength from day to day. Mare is decreasing at many points and this is creating a wider movement. No fur ther price change. Market continues more or less un changed for live chickens with weak ness apparent only in the springers which are still quoted at the all-time low price record. More than passing strength is re flected for country killed lamb and sales ar0 quickly made 0c for top stuff. Demand for ewes Is goo:, around 3c and even goats are finding a real call at, the moment. Trade In the country killed hog and veal markets Is about steady with fair activity in hogs but an Increase In veal supplies was too much for the trade to take care of Immediately. Apple Hale Gain There is a slight gain In volume of apple sales locally. With decreasing stocks of Jumble pock, there Is a slight Increase In the movement of face and fill. In places 6 to 10c. has been added to the price. Another advance of a nickel or so a cental is confirmed for potatoes both in the Deschutes and In the Yakima territory with a similar rise being quoted to retailers by whole- salers. Tops of Deschutes up to tl.OS. There is an acute shortage of wine grapes at the moment and especially Callfornlan.
