LA GRANDE EVENING ObSEKVKK, LA GRANDE, ORE, Par T&m ' UNIQUE STUDEBAIER CARAVAN VISITING LAGIANBE LEADERS IN UNIQUE STUDEBAKER CARAVAN Traveling Show Includes Both Rockne And Fierce-Arrows Wednesday, June 22, 1032 A Business recovery In all lines of Undo will be hastened by Just such activities as are being sponsored in Lti Grande this week by the Plerce Arrow Motor Car company In the opinion of M, J. Goss, of the Goes gurage, local PierceArrow representa tive. "The sooner people, buy what they actually con offord, whether it be furniture, radios, clothing or auto mobiles, the sooner will movement '. and manufacturing or raw mute ly rials begin to provide work and money for everyone throughout the country," said Mr. Ooss. "The program carried out In behalf of Pierce-Arrow In Ln Grande this week Is a. carefully planned national project designed to stimulate busi ness simultaneously ln hundreds of centers. "Briefly, this plan carries Pierce Arrow right to the door-step of the people in this vicinity who can and should purchase one or another of the several makes of nutompbiles ln the fine-car field. Mjost of these people are vaguely aware of the fact that-all the manufacturers in this price class liavo Introduced some amazing new developments and have brought prices down to 1932 stand ards, but as yet they have not actu ally been brought face-to-face with this new merchandise. They have not had a genuine opportunity to buy, placed squarely before them. "Frankly, we are urging people to buy an automobile, regardless o( whether it Is a Pierce -Arrow or some other make, because we earnestly be lieve that a revival of automobile sales will revive activity in all lines of trade, for the reason that the auto mobile Industry not only consumes vast quantities of steel, rubber, cop per, glass, lumber, textiles and other materials, but dispenses millions of dolturs to wage -spenders i" The staging of this exhibit affords local motorists an opportunity to view an array of specially-built, fine cars such as Is rarely seen outside of na tional show displays or the great metropolitan showrooms; It Is true Indeed, that the group oi Pierce-Ar-row cars exhibited heroV 'this week comprises as Interesting an exhibit as the one sponsored by this famous manufacturer ln the New York auto mobile show. New Rockne Six Worthy of Name Of Great Coach To every motorist with a love for a fine automobile at a most unusual -price, the Rockne 05. which Is being shown this week ln this city as a part of the coining Studebaker cara van, will have an Instant appeal. The Rockne Is very low-priced, when its size, quality and standard equip ment without extra charge, are con sidered. - But to many, the very name of the icar. Is appealing. No American could hold the late great Knute Rockne ln other than the greatest respect, and it Is therefore natural that they should expect a V great car to bear his name. "Now, for the first time," said M. 3. Goss of the Goss Motor company, in speaking of Rockne, "it can be an nounced that, had he lived, Knute Rockne today would have been vice president In charge of sales of the Rockne corporation. The year in (nvhich he was killed Jn that terrtblej thirplafae crasl? was to have been his jiinst year as coach of famous Notre iDame, and he was to have joined the Btudebaker-Rockno forces at its close." ' As to the Rockne cor, few believe '.It is bo inexpensive when they first see It. .Its size is impressive, its style is daring, and these two features rmake one think that it must be far . more costly than It Is. There is no question, Rockne gives an amazing amount of automobile for the price, and It Is backed by all the experience that 80 years of successful Studeba ker building can give. Uncompromising quality of mate rials, plus painstaking accuracy of chassis and body engineering, assure each Rockne of a long and vigorous life and of durable good looks that people do not expect ordinarily ln a low priced car, Health UKREMTY AND DMBETKS Even ln the days of Hippocrates it was well known that certain dis eases are more prone to develop in Individuals of a definite constitu tional type. The ancient ' physicians 'differen tiated the short, stocky,, barrel chested individual from the lean, tall, lanky type. They knew that the first Is more subject to high blood pressure and to apoplectic strokes, while the sec ond type is more frequently the suf ferer from respiratory diseases. Many of these observations of the ancients have been subjected to scientifically controlled studies and it Is known that in certain diseases there is an hereditary factor which, while not directly responsible for the disease, appears to favor its more ready development. ' Therefore, in saying that there Is an hcreditrfry .-factor- Ait dtabete3,r we do not mean that the descendants of diabetic parents are foredoomed to develop the disease, but rather that experience has taught that such descendants are a little more likely than the average population to develop the disease and should, therefore, be on their guard. The hereditary factor in diabetes, recognized ln the sixteenth century, appears In the form of a lower tol erance for sugar and a lower capac ity for its utilization. Experimental studies made with ntlce have shown that -the hered itary factor may be bred as one might breed other hereditary qual ities. Thus, mice showing a low sugar tolerance when bred with their own kind produce offspring in accord- FIMl'INO ,ANt TITUS SUITS SWAMP ISLANDS COURTS MANILA (P) manges are pro posed- In the system of issuing land titles In the Philippines by means of "cadastral," or wholesale surveys, be cause the islands' courts are swamp ed.
