These cars are the Studebaker Commander Eight and Dictator Eight. A splendid Idea of the stuff that Is built Into each Studebaker car was recently given In the Memorial day races at Indianapolis, when a Stuuc baker eight, driven by .Cliff Bergere, finished in third place, ond drove the GOO miles faster than any Indianap olis winner hud ever driven up to 1032. JAlthouGh Bei'RCH'e f showing was outstanding in this race, each of the other four eighth, which made up the Studebaker team of five cars in tho race, made high records. Bergere fin ished third In his Studebaker; an other Studebaker finished sixth, an other 13th, another 15th. and the fiftli one finished 10th. Originally there were. 27 cars en tered for itbe -race, but only 40 quali fied, among themi being the fly Studebakers. Only 17 cars were nble to finish at the gruelling speed . drivqn. The first three cars to fin ish, one of them Borgere's Studeba ker, all broke the former record, set by Peter de Paolo In 1025. This latest exhibition of Studeba ker speed and stamina adds another splendid performance to the long list which marks Studebaker cars ns al most In a class by themselves, cars which hold tho greatest record of of the drive or 30.000 miles in 26,000 minutes elapsed time.
