Leather welt sole. . $349 Ine N T ST ORE La Grande, Oregon Breeding Turkeys Show an Increase ROSEBURG W The annual North western Turkey show, held each De cember at Oakland, Ore., has re sulted ln from 300 to 400 per cent increase in tho sale - of breeding turkeys by Oregon growers, J. C. Leedy, county agent, believes. In previous years Oregon turkeys were sold largely for meat purposes and breeding stock was imported from other states. Since the show was Inaugurated, however, there has been a noticeable increase in the quality of Oregon breeding stock and sales have become an important fac tor in the industry. Birds for breed ing purposes sell for from 50 to 100 per cent more than those sold for meat. The Oregon legislature is being asked to assist the annual show with an appropriation which will enable larger cash prizes to be offered. It is proposed next year to hold the show for four days Instead of two if the special assistance rcauest-ed from I the state is obtained. By John C.
