J. JJ. Smith had passed away the night before at about 0:30 o'clock at her home In the Valeria district. Her death followed a loitg illness, covering at least the past three years, year when life held Utile for her and when recovery was not at alt to be considered. Another stroke sustulned lust week hastened her going. Mrs. Smith was one of the best known and most highly respected women in the valley. She loved life, her friends say, and she made much of it. She was a good neigh bor and a good friend. They will visit especially at Madison and Ha Id Knob and at other places where they have friends and relatives. Mr. Mlall had been with a son in South Hend. Indiana, for several months and had returned to Ids Moines only on Sunday. Mis death came with no warning. Mr. Miatt had many friends in this valley, made during his visits here at his daughter's home. He liked this country and always made ex-' tended visits here, taking a grout interest in everything he saw.
