Such drivers, he said, would be required to file with the secretary of state a liability policy, surety bond or some other security to insure payment of claims against them. EIGHT CYLINDER CAR IS POPULAR Interesting Surveyof Pas senger Car Registra tions Made Public. The rising tide or tpopu larily for the eight cylinder car W revealed in an Interesting survey of passen ger car registrations just made public by the Studcbaker Coryora tion of America through J. Gosh, Studcbaker-Krskine dealer here. During the first seven months of this year Oregon motorists pur chased nearly twice as many eights as they did during the same period last year. Registrations of eight cylinder cars above $limo in creased !i2 per cent, while six cy linder cars In tho same price cla.'S showed a decrease of 1 I per cent. The growing preference for the eight, and the corresponding de cline In six cylinder registrations is brought out by registration fig ures throughout the country. In the forty-three states where the statistics were avullable, total reg istrations of cars above $1000 show an Increase of !'4 p'r cent for eights compared to a decrease of IS per cent for sixes. Registration figures for five states and the Dis trict of Columbia do not clusaify cars by motor types, and wore therefore not Included In the sur vey. All but two elates of the forty three showed a decline In the rrRls- tratlon of sixes above $ lotto. In Nevada and New Mexico six cylin der registrations In this price field increased 38 per cent and 2 per cent respectively, while eight cylin der , registrations gained 138 per cent and 17 per cent.
