Aug. 21 (AP) The Cnited States navy diri gible Los Angeles returned to its hangar today after a tin and a half hour flight over Central New Jersey. While In flight the dirigible practiced picking tip and releasing an aeroplane. The plane, piloted by Lieutenant A. W, Gordon of the navy was caught by a wire hung from the stern of the Los Angeles, which connected with a hook on top of the plane. Flying at the same speed as that of the Los Angeles the, pilot brought his plane into position un der the stern of the great airship ami swung the hook on his wing Into the U shaped wire attachment. The propeller of the plane was con tinued in motion to prevent the tall from dropping. This difficulty will be surmounted by attaching another hook to the tall of the plane and another yoke further bark on the, dirigible, it was ex plained. After flying together for several minutes the plane was cut loose from the airship as the pilot drew the hook from the yoke and swung ills craft toward the ground. The test was made in accordance with Lieutenant -Commander Her bert V.
