The fiouthern States are taking much southern pine, large quan tities moving into Florida, while buying in the middle West and Kast. continues active. A big volume of fir continues to move through the Panama canal to the Atlantic sea board, and California business is well sustained and very promising, while there has been a, decided spurt in rail trade with the middle West. Volume of southern hardwood purchases is well sustained, but the principal consuming groups continue very conservative. The building trades are buying best, for interior trim and flooring. Mill holdings have been greatly reduced and prices remain firm at the high er levels they reached recently.
