"No man has ever been lined on u traffic violation in my court thut hasn't been given every op portunity to have an immediate trial, by jury or otherwise, und I have always been more reasonable on tourists than on anyone else," stated Hugh Brady, Justice or the peace of l.u Grande this morning when shown a clipping from the Idaho Stale Journal, published in I'ocatello, Idaho, which charged thai Mm local "court operated a money making scheme and It is a scandal to the state of Oregon." An inspection wis held Oils morning to pick out the best, company m camp. One by one each company was elimin ated until only Company li of The 1 tulles and Company K of lu Grande, were left. The two com panies were tied and the inspect ing or fleers could not decide which was the better. The con test was finally closed by award ing the first place to ( 'ompany H, because of the fact that Hu-y had two pairs of shoes and the La Grande company one. This is no fault of the company and both officers and men are proud of the showing. The pil.e Is a large silver cup donated by the .Med ford Cham ber of Commerce. The men in I he company are loud in their praise of the cham ber of commerce of Med ford. The company was given leave of ab sence from camp at & o'clock yes terday afternoon until to at night.
