Heal th and beamy go hand in hund, declare the author, and a grave vvarnhrg Is given to wonten riro kers and drinkers, his theory being that It is difficult for the women of today, and the men as well, to smoke or drink within what ordinarily is termed moder ation. "A man often wlU have his fil iated dally ration, of aa many pi pes, cigars or cigarettes, but a wo man is mom unstable and less cap able of self-control than a man." the author contends. As a rule, he iwiieves, a woman smoker does not appear to know what modera tion means, any more than u wo man drinker. Concerning the effect Of excess ive cigarette smoking upon a wo man's beauty the doctor says: Oh serve a girl who smokes excess ively, and you will notice that slit- ulso looks undernourished, with staring eye.t and a yellowish skin. To make matters worse the smo ke-dried throat experiences a false thirst, ami thus more liquid than is necessary is consumed ml an alcohol habit sit up, Th cock ,lail and th cigarette, always go together."
